Petko and Hristo Katsarovi
Teacher Petko Katsarov
Petko Kolev Katsarov was born in the village of Novata Mahala (today Lyulyak) on August 1, 1889. There were four brothers, but only he received an education. The first intelligentsia of the village is led. He is the uncle of the writer Hristo Katsarov. The latter remembers him in one of his books. He was the first from the village to study in the city (probably at first in Stara Zagora, and then in Kazanlak). He began writing poems under the pseudonyms „Inkin” and „Tear”. There remain three of his notebooks from that time – period 1909 – 1913. The first, called „Raznotsvet”, has copies of poems by Bulgarian and foreign poets – mainly symbolists and from the magazines „Southern colors“ and „Bulgarian“. The second notebook is a short collection of his poems entitled “Poesie”. The poems are an echo of the era – of them flows decadent sadness, characteristic of the era of Bulgarian literary modernism. The last notebook is an early life balance titled „One life”. It consists of three parts. In the first are verses. The second is a diary in which he poured his soul, signed Tear-Inkin, 21.03. 1910, Nova Mahala, Stara Zagora. The third part of his diary is mostly from the time of the wars. No more romantic thrills – has only fear and terror of war and death. Poems and memories are dark and bezradi: „Withered flowers”, p. Crane, 1912, „Of the Dying Warrior” – Chataldzha, 1912 ...
